1STS SHOCKED AT ELTON BUT 2S PRODUCE BIG WIN

The 1sts plummeted to a first league defeat of the season with a poor batting display at Elton. Having restricted the home side to just 165 all out on a decent surface, the boys couldn't get ahead of the rate, eventually falling to just 136 all out. The pick of the Totts bowlers was Si Marsh who showed how to do it by taking pace off the ball and conceding just 21 runs from an impressive 14 over spell, while Doc picked up 5-40, despite taking some hammer from Eddie Shah late on. A target of 166 shouldn't have been a tough challenge on a big ground, but wickets fell steadily and nobody was able to get on top of the bowling. Kieran battled through for 30 but with runs drying up in the middle overs and players falling to silly shots, the run chase capitulated, nobody else getting past the teens. Credit to Elton who bowled very tightly throughout and didn't give too much away, and deserved their win. We'll learn from this and come back stronger.

Back at the Meadows the 2s put in an impressive shift against Deane and Derby. We'll have more reaction and comment later in the week (when someone sends through a report), but special mention to Ry Marsh who narrowly missed out on a ton with 82 not out, Clive who smashed 48 and all the bowlers for chipping in!
