Firsts back in Calverley Cup Final

In a sensational development, the 1st XI will now feature in next Sunday's Calverley Cup Final at Thornham, after our semi final conquerors, Elton Vale, were thrown out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player in that game. The news has resurrected the season, after two recent defeats to Littleborough Lakeside and - ironically - Elton Vale have ended any realistic chances of a top two finish.

Tottington are of course defending cup holders, having won the trophy in 2008 and 2009 and will be desperate to secure the trophy and make it a hat-trick of victories. However, we face very stern opposition in perennial rivals and bogey side Rochdale Catholic Club, who have already inflicted two defeats on us this campaign. League champs Catholics are not having things their own way in the league either after recent losses, and so both sides will be keen to add the cup to the trophy cabinet.

The game will be played at Thornham CC on Sunday August 29, with the match starting at 1.30pm. Details of the pre-match get-together for players and supporters will be announced early this week. All spectators are most welcome! Thornham Cricket Club, Off Rochdale Road, Slattocks, Middleton, M24 2UD
