CALLING ALL COACHES - VACANCY AT TOTTINGTON ST JOHN'S 2016

Tottington St John’s Cricket Club was formed in 1887 and has enjoyed recent success on the field, and a remarkable amount of development activity over the past decade. With a hat-trick of Calverly Cups (2008, 2009, 2010) for the 1st XI, and a double league championship for the 2nd XI (2014, 2015), along with several cup final appearances and competitive league finishes along the way, we are proud of our progress to date. Following our move to the new Greater Manchester Cricket League, we are looking to secure a top-drawer, local coach who can help develop our playing squad at both junior and senior level, and help us progress on the field.

Off the field, we boast a modern clubhouse building which is currently undergoing its third extension in 5 years to provide mixed-gender changing facilities, market-leading outdoor net facilities, ample sponsorship and local business support, and a committee which is one of the most pro-active in amateur cricketing circles. We are constantly improving, repositioning and adapting ourselves to provide a truly inspirational and well-used facility for the local community, and now it’s time to bring our cricketing strength in line with off-field club development.

During the course of our year, our club hosts Tottington's Big Day Out, a music festival which brings almost 5,000 people to our ground; we participate in a traditional Boxing Day cricket fixture which has attracted national media attention, and, alongside our two senior men's teams, we have a specialist T20 team. We have recently established a mixed-gender junior set up, and boast the only senior women's cricket side in the area, which includes a significant number of senior and junior county standard players - we are home to the Lancashire Girls Development squad and have very strong links with the LCB. Through the year, we host up to 40 games across all our teams, plus various friendlies.

For 2016, we will be a founder member of the GMCL, and feel this is a perfect opportunity for a talented coach to join our club at an exciting time for our club in particular and local cricket in general.

The successful candidate must:

Our ideal appointment should:

We will also consider applications from coaches who wish to play for the 1st XI, though this is not essential – we welcome applications from both playing and non-playing coaches.

We boast a family-friendly club with a strong social side and excellent community links, and depend on our committed, friendly volunteers to provide a great facility during match days and club events.

Remuneration to be discussed on an individual basis, in line with experience and qualifications.

If you like the sound of us, and, the points above don’t phase you, we would love to hear from you!
