PETE ALLEN RIP

It's with terrible sadness that we have to pass on the news that our friend and former player Pete Allen passed away last night (January 24th). Pete was battling a horrid, debilitating illness and his fight sadly ended on his 60th birthday.

Pete was a true gentleman and friend to everyone he came into contact with. His impish sense of humour and ready smile made him a hit both on and off the field, and he was unquestionably one of the finest amateur wicketkeepers of his generation. Brave, committed and as enthusiastic as they come, Pete was a joy to play alongside, and his time at Totts was just a short stop in a career punctuated with highlight after highlight, especially at Bury CC where he spent much of his career. Although he had moved away in recent years, he still made regular visits back up north to visit friends and watch his beloved Bury FC, and indeed was looking to relocate here to continue his palliative care.

Pete will be deeply missed by all who knew him and our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his son James, all those who were close to him and indeed everyone whose lives he impacted. He was a gentleman, a dear friend, and above all just a profoundly good guy. Pete, we will miss you old friend. Wherever you are now is a better place for your presence. RIP.
