TSJ U9s in debut win

Thanks to Ian Hayes for the excellent review!

Great things have been going on at Tottington St Johns over the last few years with the development of an artificial practice facility, new home changing rooms, the ground levelled and a new patio area. However, perhaps the most important development of all started on Sunday when our under 9s played their first competitive game of cricket, which is hopefully the start of a successful youth system at the club. Ramsbottom Cricket Club are probably the standard bearers for youth development in the area so it was fitting that our first game was against them at their home ground.

Our team, mainly comprising of children aged 7, went on to win a close game by 10 runs and were a credit to TSJ and all that they are trying to achieve. All the team played their part but special mention must be made of our star lady - Imogen - who not only made runs and took wickets but ran someone out with a direct hit. The children enjoyed themselves whilst the parents nervously looked on at the start of their children's cricketing journey. Thanks to Stuart and Clive for their coaching over the last twelve months. On the evidence of Sunday TSJ should have a bright future.
