AGM UPDATE 1 - MEET YOUR CAPTAINS FOR 2015!
History was made at the 2015 AGM with one of the captaincy positions unable to be split! Read on to find out more!
After a 2014 season fraught with player absence, abandoned games and some real highs and lows, Si Marsh has decided to give it another whirl. Elected unopposed, Si will be hoping to lead the side to a better league position in 2015, while his teammates will be hoping that self-styled "league's best number 9" actually bats in his proper position in the top 4 and scores a shedload of runs.
Step forward Ian Hayes. Arguably the world's fittest man of his generation, Hayesy is a human dynamo with a great deal of leadership experience. Voted in as vice captain, Ian will add a canny brain to his all round cricketing talents and may even be able to persuade Marshy that batting at 9 is just madness! We should see more of Hayesy's underrated medium pace dibbly dobblies too.
It's not really surprising that after leading the side to a much deserved 4th Division title and promotion, Mike Watts will continue in his role as 2nd XI skipper. Marrying a decent cricket brain with an ability to fill half the changing room with male grooming kit, young Michael will be hoping for a repeat of the progress we saw in the exciting 2014 season.
Here's where the fun begins! We had dual nominations for vice captain at the AGM, and with the vote unable to be split Scott suggested that we ask the two in question if they'd be happy to share vice captaincy duties - in a TSJCC first, both duly agreed and so for 2015 we will see the fabulous pairing of Mick Durrans and Ryan Stoney providing backup. It's a remarkable blend of outright cheeky laddishness and serious biker attitude that surely will be tough to top!
We wish all our captains and vice captains much luck for the coming season. We would also like to say good luck to rounders captain Kate Caldwell and to whoever has the fun job and honour of captaining the ladies and U11s teams! Here's to a great year ahead!
