MARSHY IN THE WICKETS AS 1STS WIN ON SUNDAY

It was a weekend of mixed results for the senior sides, with the 1sts winning one and losing one of theri double header, while the table-topping 2s slipped to their first defeat of the season at home to Greenfield.

Saturday's short hop to Elton Vale provided to be a bit of a non-starter for the 1sts. Despite featuring a strong line up, the fragile batting again reared its head and we were only able to muster 85. That was never likely to prove much of a challenge for the Vale and they duly swept to victory by 7 wickets, consigning the 1sts to their fourth straight loss. Back at the Meadows things were little better for the 2s, who had gone into their game with Greenfield at the top of Division 3. The visitors racked up an impressive 221-9 in their overs, before Totts brave run chase ended on 168. However there remains good news, in the the side still top the table and indeed have games in hand over their main rivals.

Sunday saw the 1sts make the tough trip to league newcomers Deane and Derby, who have been in impressive form in recent weeks. A home win seemed to be very much the predictable result, but this Totts side is anything but that! The home side were knocked over for 134, with skipper Si Marsh bagging 6 wickets for 52; the boys then chased down the target for the loss of 5 wickets to secure a much needed 5 points and arrest the recent slump.
