PACKED SPRING PROGRAMME AT TSJ

Spring is almost upon us and there are loads of diary dates and forthcoming events for club members new and established. Here are some of the highlights and key dates!

Training

Yes, it's time to dust off the bat, whiten the pads and oil your helmet as we get down to action for the 2016 season. Junior nets have been underway since November and continue until late March at Tottington HS from 5-6 pm every Wednesday. The seniors start 4 weeks of nets on Monday February 29th at Woodhey HS, 7.30-9pm, and continue these each Monday up to and including March 21st. Outdoor training commences in early April, with Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th earmarked for men and women, respectively, from 6pm.

AGM

Everyone should have received details of this year's AGM by now, along with captaincy nominations and voting information. If you haven't had the material, please email Clive via tsjcc@aol.com asap. The AGM will take place at the pavilion from 7.30pm on Wednesday March 2nd. Please make every attempt to be there - this is for junior and senior cricket, women's division and the rounders of course, and is a chance to see your teammates, enjoy a drink and discover all that's been happening over a very busy winter! Please send any apologies to Clive beforehand.

BENIDORM

The latest annual pre-season tour to Benidorm runs from March 4-7, and we already have a record 50 people signed up! It's not too late to tag along, please contact Kieran if you wish to come along for some winter sun and good competitive cricket!

GOOD FRIDAY CRICKET / WOMEN'S OPEN DAY

Having succumbed to torrential floods on Boxing Day, our annual challenge with Brooksbottom will now take place from 11am on Good Friday, March 25th. The usual festivities will be on offer, together with a full women's open day, where our girls can come along, sign up for the season and enjoy the day. Please make every effort to support the event and PLEASE let Mike Watts know your playing availability - the team is open to men and women of course and we hope to have a competitive squad from all areas of the club.

NATWEST CRICKETFORCE APRIL 2ND

This year's CricketForce takes place on Saturday April 2nd. This is supported by NatWest and is our yearly chance to get together, throw on T-shirts and clean, paint, dust, mow, repair, burn and generally tittivate everything in sight. Again, we need all club folk to attend as there will be dozens of jobs for all! Last year's event was very well supported - more of the same this year please!

PRE-SEASON GAME AT BRADSHAW

We will once again decamp to Bradshaw on April 9th for our annual pre-season event against class opposition. It's always a top day and we'll be playing in memory of Derek Kay. Again, please let Watty know your availability.

SEASON STARTS!

There's a staggered start for our seniors this year. Our women are first in competitive action, as they take on Bardsey at home on Sunday April 10th - all support most welcome. Our girls are looking to build on a superb season in 2015, and there may even be new faces on show alongside our superstars! The men kick off a week later, with both 1sts and 2nds starying their GMCL campaigns on Saturday April 16th. The first take the short trip to play our friends at Elton, while the 2s have a tough start at home to unknown quantitires Bolton CC.

There's loads happening in and around the club as always - if you're passing any Saturday morning, there are always people down so pop in, help out and have a drink!
