GT COMES GOOD AS 1STS COMPLETE DOUBLE OVER WINTON
Chinese George hit an unbeaten 73 not out to lead the depleted 1sts to a comprehensive 7 wicket win against Winton. With many folks away on hols, it was a somewhat makeshift side that took to the field, but that didn't stop the 1sts racking up their 3rd successive win in good style. Having restricted the visitors to a competitive 189, with Marshy his usual economical self, and Bird pitching in with another 4 wickets, the chase was on. All the Totts players contributed, with GT leading from the front. There was plenty of mirth as celebrations took place for Birdy's 50, but a miscount actually saw him dismissed for 49!!! Thanks, young Brooky ... a 7 wicket win was wrapped up and celebrations ensued.
The 2s fell to a 50 run loss against Westleigh, whose lower order plundered more than 100 runs in just a few overs at the end of their innings. That proved to be the difference, despite a rapid innings from Mahmood and a cracking 71 from Ady, backed up by George's 58. The boys final total of 191 just wasn't quite enough to get over the line.
The women's side put up a brave performance against a very strong Bradford outfit, totalling just shy of 190 despite a duck from class batsman Ceebs. Danielle Collins and Georgie Holt were the stars, notching 65 and 56 not out respectively. However the Bradford batters were in imperious form and knocked off the 190 target with just two wickets down. Still, another very encouraging show from the young Totts side.
