CUP WOES FOR SENIOR SIDES IN SUMMER HEAT

The last three weekends have seen some fairly ordinary results, with cup heartbreak for both our mens senior sides. On a weekend which saw no fewer than 9 senior players unavailable, the 1sts lost to Blackley before being tonked by ELPM in their Cup semi final. There were few good performances on show on either day, and this year's cup dream is over! Hoping to bounce back against Failsworth, the 1sts were stymied with total washout number 5 as August arrived with rain showers and colder temperatures.

The 2nds meanwhile march on in Division 4, with a huge win against Blackley (chasing down over 200 for just 4 wickets) followed by a rain off against Failsworth when strongly placed. Unfortunately the boys chose the cup final to put in a decidedly ordinary performance collectively, and went down to Failsworth at Elton Vale. It has been a great season to date for Watty's lads though, and they remain in strong contention both for promotion and the Division 4 title - some huge games are fast approaching!
